Susana Ortiz Obregon
With a bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication from Universidad Javeriana, Bogotá (1992) and postgraduate studies in International Relations from Universidad Javeriana, Bogotá (1996) and Film and Television Screenwriting in Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona (1998), since 2008 she is an associate professor at the Universidad Nacional de Colombia where she lectures at the Escuela de Cine y Televisión (Film and television school) and at the Maestría en Escrituras Creativas (Master program on Creative Writing) coordinating the track of Feature Film Screenplay. In the academic field she has been scriptwriting consultant for around 366 short films and 72 feature films and also has been jury at several contests on screenwriting and filmmaking.
Author of the original feature screenplay El Pincel del Tucán (2005), screenwriter for the animated series Ciudaca D.C. (1999), scriptwriter and scriptwriter’s supervisor for the family series Padres e Hijos (1999-2001), original idea co-author, researcher and scriptwriter for the children’s magazine on sports Más rápido, más alto, más fuerte(2001), among others.
She is interested in researching about the image of woman shown through the female characters in the Colombian cinema and the topics that are being exposed in Colombian films that reveal a certain idiosyncrasy. She is also doing an adaptation of an original feature screenplay to literature.
